Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are back in training ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup fourth round match at Newport County, giving the team a double boost.

Shaw participated in the last practice before the Tottenham Hotspur match, but he was not completely match fit, hence he was unable to play.

Now, the left-back is back in the training area with his colleagues. Maguire, who had been sidelined due to a groyne issue, was also present with the team.

Shaw will most likely return to the starting lineup before Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Against Spurs, Wan-Bissaka began the game in an unfamiliar left-back position. It is anticipated that the 25-year-old would give way so the Englishman may start for the first time since December 23.

In the meanwhile, central defence could present a selection challenge for manager Erik ten Hag.

Lisandro Martinez, who underwent a metatarsal surgery, ought to be back in the starting lineup. He made a strong 30-minute cameo against Spurs, and in South Wales, he ought to start right away.

Raphael Varane participated in the entire 90 minutes of the 2-2 league match, although his status as the starting right centre back is still up for debate because Maguire was earlier favoured to him.

Maguire was selected earlier in the campaign, and Varane was frequently used as a substitute. It will be intriguing to observe Martinez’s preferred partner versus Newport, as determined by the manager.

Aside from Shaw and Maguire, Casemiro appears to be returning for the first time since November. He returned from a hamstring injury last weekend, although he was not deployed as a replacement.

In our opinion, Kobbie Mainoo has performed admirably in Casemiro’s absence starting at position six.

The Red Devils graduate may be rested this weekend in anticipation of beginning the Premier League’s plainly more important matchup against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
