Man United has decided not to renew the contracts of Raphael Varane or Anthony Martial.
Raphael Varane may not receive a contract extension offer from Manchester United, while Anthony Martial is still anticipated to depart the team.
After United said that they “are talking with Rapha Varane, with Anthony Martial,” Erik ten Hag—who is 28 years old—said that he was surprised that the striker would be in line for a new contract. Both Varane and Martial have expiring contracts in June.
Following a report of a misunderstanding, the outlet’s social media account removed a video of the analysis. In October, The Manchester Evening News stated that, should Martial not be sold during the January transfer window, he would likely be dismissed.
Martial’s contract will not be renewed by United, and the team intends to let him go in the summer. Since the 2020–21 season began, the Frenchman has managed just 18 goals for United, while the injury-prone Martial only participated in 28 of the 62 games during the previous season. Due to illness, he has missed the last three and a half weeks of training
